Can’t Talk Now, Gaming…

Sony has recently revealed the PS3 can not offer their install base  Cross Game Chat due to memory restrictions. It took them a pretty long time to finally come clean, but the truth is now out there like Mulder and Scully chasing after aliens.

It only does everything except Cross Game Chat, and quite honestly I couldn’t care less.

Cross Game Chat has always been a topic that was split down the middle. It was a highly requested feature for Sony, but just as many people who wanted the feature didn’t care to have it at all.

My stance of indifference comes from knowing exactly why I bought my PS3. The games Sony provided me ever since I bought a Playstation One were the main draw, and still are. The inclusion of features or certain features not being implemented are secondary when it comes to my enjoyment of gaming.

I’m not saying the feature is entirely useless and Cross Game Chat could have been the icing on my cake, but too much icing can make you sick. I know I would have been pretty annoyed after awhile of friends on my list wanting to chat with me while I’m playing a single player game, and I know I wouldn’t answer them until I was finished.

Sorry, but I just don’t like to be interrupted or distracted from what I’m doing.

The point is that Cross Game Chat is just a feature and nothing more. It isn’t the glue that keeps gaming together or the digitalized second coming.

It’s all about the games themselves, so please leave a message after the beep….
