Next Xbox Rumor: Code-Name Durango

Kotaku recently reported a rumor that according to sources close to the project that the successor to the Xbox 360 will have a very interesting code-name.

Durango.

This is supposedly the name the next Xbox is referred to before it reaches its final development phase.

A Microsoft spokesperson had this to say to GameSpot:

“As an innovator we’re always thinking about what is next and how we can push the boundaries of technology like we did with Kinect. We believe the key to extending the life span of a console is not just about the console hardware, but about the games and entertainment experiences being delivered to consumers. Beyond that we don’t comment on rumors or speculation.”

Off course, Microsoft has not confirmed any details about the next Xbox. Recent rumors say the Xbox 720 will play Blu-ray discs, ship with a tablet controller, block used games, and cost around $500 to $600.
