Sega has revealed that Phantasy Star Online 2 will be free-to-play and download with an item transaction system for players interested in buying gear. Phantasy Star Online 2 will also be making its way to your Smartphone with iOS and Android apps that share data with the two main versions of PSO2 and offering “simpler character creation, a simple control experience, and social game elements.”
The PC and Vita versions are on the same server and feature cross-platform play with the ability to play the same character on both versions of the game.
The PC version releases first in “early summer” followed by the Smartphone version in winter 2012. The PS Vita version will release in Japan last in spring 2013.
The beta for Phantasy Star Online 2 begins in late April in Japan.
